How can you help?
We aim to cover costs but try to keep our fees as low as possible to make our camps affordable to groups from under resourced communities. Every cent we spend must have a positive influence on as many people possible.
The health and welfare of our Youth are our concern, and we have had to close during the Covid-19 lockdown. For the foreseeable future, we have not and will not able to accommodate Youth at Glencairn with the result that we have no income.
The ongoing running costs of the entire property are ± R160 000 per month. As you can see from the above, this is a project that means so much to many and it is vitally important that we are able to maintain it for the benefit of all young South Africans.
This Rotary project is sustainable, but it is undoubtedly true that urgent maintenance and development requires outside funding. The project is managed and maintained by both Rotarians and a very able and committed workforce.
With approximately 13 000 people visiting these camps the cost per youngster, to have what for many is a once in a lifetime experience, is just R150 (about $8.50).
We are looking for funding from individuals and organisations who believe in the importance of educating our Youth about the impact they can have on the environment in a fun and interactive way and who will help us to maintain and develop the Rotary Camps Glencairn.
